Mama Wellness Course

We are launching a Mama Wellness Course, a 4-week program, that will offer belly dance and self-care classes to mothers of new babies up to 9 months old. In this class, we will host a safe space for Mums and their babies, to gently move their bodies, connect to other mums, create a sense of well-being, and prevent isolation. 👩‍👦

In our society many new Mums feel lonely, exhausted, unsupported, and ashamed of their post-partum bodies. In New Zealand, the percentage of women who suffer from depression during or after pregnancy is 25%. This is why we wanted to create this special new class made especially for Mums.

Dance, and in particular Middle Eastern Dance, has a way of fostering body love, bringing about a sense of mental wellness, encouraging self-care, and fostering friendship and community among diverse women. We know that through our classes, new Mums can rediscover their beautiful bodies and strength, while taking care of their little ones.

We are your support system, our community will be your community in this new journey.

Workshop will include:

  • Learn about a new culture through Middle Eastern Dance

  • Exercise through gentle movements that engage the pelvic floor

  • Practise Mindfulness Exercises for mental wellness

  • Mum-friendly tools for self-care (e.g. stretches that can be done on the floor while with baby; quick and easy self massage targeting areas of tension from breastfeeding and baby carrying; easy recipes and healthy snack tips)
